This Super-Powered BMW M7 Sedan Looks Like a Fantastic Dream

Visualization of a Real BMW M7

A digital artist has created an image of a genuine BMW M7 model with aggressive stylistic elements. Currently, BMW is preparing an update for the 7 Series in the Neue Klasse style. Similar renders have also appeared for a potential X7 M SUV.

BMW’s Mystery Regarding the M7

BMW’s indecision about creating an M7 has always been a bit of a mystery. For a brand that rarely shies away from high performance, the hesitation to place the famous M badge on the 7 Series seems strangely cautious, although it’s not entirely unprecedented. For example, for the E31 8-Series, the management in Munich never approved the creation of an M8 at the time.

Lack of a Competitor and Artistic Interpretations

This decision left BMW without a true competitor for the Mercedes-AMG S 63, and in our opinion, the world could always use another M car. Over the years, numerous designers have tried to imagine what an M7 might look like, and the new renders from Kelsonik are among the most convincing. Given the controversial style of the current 7 Series, an M-version could be an improvement, and the visual changes imagined here make the large luxury sedan significantly more attractive.

Changes at the Front

The most dramatic modifications concern the front of the car. While it retains the massive grilles, they are smaller than those on the regular 7 Series models and painted black, as on the M5. Additionally, the standard car’s unusual split headlights are replaced with cleaner, more cohesive ones that visually blend with the grilles. The redesigned bumper adds larger air intakes and a new lower grille, giving the front a more expressive stance.

Design Details and Realism

As for the rest of the car, Kelsonik adds some subtle details that make a difference, including characteristic M wheels, black window surrounds, and a redesigned rear. The taillights, reminiscent of the current M3, are paired with a subtle spoiler and a muscular bumper and diffuser, both painted black for a harmonious design.

Quote from Kelsonik: “This render demonstrates the potential of the M7, which, unfortunately, remains only in the realm of fantasy.”

Expansion to the X7 M

Kelsonik didn’t stop there and also imagined what an M-version of the future BMW X7 might look like, following a similar formula. The render removes the SUV’s split headlights in favor of traditional units that blend with slightly modified grilles and an updated bumper.

Future Alternatives

Despite the attractive visualizations, BMW does not plan a full-fledged M-version of the next X7. Instead, buyers will have to make do with the M70 variant of the future electric iX7, which is reported to produce over 800 horsepower. While not a true M, it’s still not bad. Also on the way is its own interpretation of the SUV from Alpina, which is likely to push this figure even higher, offering a more exclusive approach to the large luxury SUV.

While the idea of an M7 remains appealing, it is unlikely that BMW will ever release such a model. Even if it did, it probably wouldn’t look like this, as the 7 Series is now being updated with the Neue Klasse design language and, judging by recent prototypes, will retain the split headlights of the current car. These renders highlight how technology allows creators to explore alternative realities where brands make bolder decisions, even if they remain within the digital world.
