Lordstown Endurance: A Rare Electric Truck That Can Be Registered
Lordstown Motors managed to launch production of its Endurance electric truck but released only 31 vehicles before shutting down. This pickup became one of the few that received official documentation, and it was recently sold for a price comparable to a new Nissan Versa.
Technically, the Endurance seemed promising: four electric hub motors, 440 hp, a 174-mile range, and fast-charging capability. However, the company couldn’t sustain itself in the market. As noted:
“This truck has a genuine Michigan certificate, making it unique among other Lordstown models”
A Functional Piece of History
The new owner, a former Lordstown shareholder, can now legally use this rare electric vehicle. Although the range is limited and there will be no more support from the manufacturer, the purchase for $22,500 looks interesting for a collector. The main question is the reliability of the technology, as there will be no one to repair it in case of a breakdown.
This case shows how difficult it is for new players to stay in the electric vehicle market. Lordstown couldn’t withstand the competition, but its products have already become part of automotive history. Under such conditions, even a failed project can find its fans among collectors.
