This Lincoln SUV May Lose Body Parts While Driving

Lincoln Aviator Recall Due to Trim Issues

Lincoln has announced a recall of 132,914 Aviator SUVs due to the possibility of trim pieces detaching while driving. The issue concerns models from the 2020–2025 model years, in which parts on the doors and C-pillars are not securely fastened. The manufacturer acknowledged that insufficient adhesive was applied to these elements during production.

Ford-Lincoln plans to fix the defect at official dealerships by the end of the year. Although the problem does not pose an immediate safety threat, regulators have expressed concern that detached parts could create a hazard on the road for other traffic participants.

Chronology of the Problem

In 2023, Ford initially did not consider this situation critical, but after additional tests and consultations with NHTSA, it changed its position. To date, no accidents or injuries related to this defect have been reported.

Lincoln Aviator owners have already filed over 1,100 warranty claims regarding this issue. Official recall notices will begin to be sent to owners starting June 28, but the exact timeline for resolving the problem is still unknown – engineers are still working on a final solution.

This is the third recall for the Lincoln Aviator in the past month. Previous reports highlighted issues with second-row seat attachments and multimedia system software. Such a series of technical problems could affect buyer confidence in the brand, especially considering the model’s premium status and its competition in the class.
