This Sale of a 40-Mile Wrangler Hemi 392 Shows That Jeep Prices Have Lost Touch With Reality

Sale of a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition for $83,500

At a recent auction, a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition was sold for $83,500, although its starting price was $107,000. This car had only traveled 40 miles but lost almost $23,500 in value. One of the reasons for this price drop could be the return of the Hemi engine to the Stellantis lineup.

This model was positioned as a unique off-roader with a powerful 470-horsepower V8, an eight-speed transmission, and all-wheel drive. It is also equipped with heated seats, a powerful Alpine audio system, a Warn winch, and other off-road accessories. However, even with such characteristics, many buyers considered its price to be inflated.

One commentator noted: “This is a car worth a maximum of $65,000, but Stellantis considers a base price of $91,000 reasonable.”

Is This Really the “Final Edition”?

The name “Final Edition” might turn out to be a marketing ploy, as Jeep has already announced a new “final” version for 2025. Furthermore, Ram has brought the Hemi engine back to its lineup, so there is a possibility that Jeep will do the same with the Wrangler. If that happens, this “last” version will lose its exclusivity.

The auction price only confirms that the market is not ready to pay the initial cost for this model. Even considering all its advantages, buyers believe that Jeep overestimated its product. Perhaps the company should reconsider its pricing policy, as has already happened with other models, such as the Wagoneer.

It is interesting to note that Stellantis is not facing criticism for inflated prices for the first time. If the trend continues, the brand will have to either reduce the cost or find new ways to justify it to customers.
