This Reactive Flying Motorcycle Lets You Feel Like a ‘Star Wars’ Hero in Real Life

The ability to maneuver between cars in traffic jams makes the motorcycle one of the fastest ways to get around the city. However, the Volonaut Airbike is even faster and is free from the danger of suddenly opened doors or sharp lane changes by other road users.

This vehicle resembles a speeder bike from “Return of the Jedi.” It was developed by Polish innovator Tomasz Patan, known for his unusual aircraft. He is the creator of the Jetson One – an electric quadcopter for transporting people that became famous in 2022.

Unlike the Jetson One with a propeller system, the Volonaut Airbike is more compact and uses a jet propulsion system. Details of the technical part remain a commercial secret.

It is known that the device reaches speeds of up to 200 km/h. A built-in stabilization system with an onboard computer provides automatic hovering and simple control.

The open design without a roof or windshield provides a panoramic view, creating a feeling of complete freedom during flight.

The manufacturer uses carbon fiber and 3D printing to minimize weight. The finished device is seven times lighter than a regular motorcycle – about 39 kg, although the weight can increase to 120 kg with the pilot.

The company’s website features three videos demonstrating the capabilities of the flying motorcycle. One of them contains a reference to “Star Wars” – the pilot is dressed in a stormtrooper costume, which might attract the attention of law enforcement.

Exact market release dates and cost remain unknown. The project author only noted that serial production is likely to begin soon, and details will be announced later.
