This Unique Retro Corvette Could Convince Us to Choose It Over the ZR1X

A Restomod 1967 Corvette Sting Ray is Up for Auction

Today, new Corvette models are in high demand, especially the updated base C8, which is a true sports car find for its price. However, if choosing between a modern C8 and a classic Sting Ray for the garage, many would prefer the latter.

However, classic cars have their drawbacks in handling and comfort. Even the newest C2 models, produced between 1963-1967, are now over 60 years old. Therefore, for those who want to combine classic design with modern technology, there are restomod projects like this 1967 Corvette.

Modern Technology in a Classic Design

This Corvette Sting Ray has retained its original appearance but received numerous updates. The body is modified: widened fenders, removed bumpers, and an installed Stinger hood, which was previously only installed on high-performance versions with a 7.0-liter engine.

Under the hood now is a 7.1-liter V8 with forged components, aluminum heads, and modern fuel injection. The car also received a 5-speed manual transmission, Wilwood disc brakes, quick-ratio power steering, and an adjustable Global West suspension.

The interior combines classic and modern: sport seats with leather provide better support, and the climate control system makes the ride more comfortable.

Although this restomod cannot compete with the new Z06 or ZR1 in speed, it offers a unique driving experience, combining nostalgia and modern technology. For Corvette enthusiasts who value individuality, this is an excellent option.

Restomodded cars are becoming increasingly popular as they allow for better performance without losing historical charm. This Corvette is a prime example of how to update a classic while preserving its spirit.
