New pickups from JMC
The Chinese automaker JMC is preparing to launch two new pickups. Although these models share many similarities, their front-end design makes it easy to distinguish one from the other. Both vehicles resemble scaled-down versions of the Ford F-Series and Ranger.
If you’re going to borrow a design, it’s better to take it from market leaders. Ford has been refining its pickups for decades, making them some of the most popular in the world.
Technical features
Both models are equipped with a large radiator grille featuring the JMC logo. The more premium version, the Tiger, has LED headlights and a black bumper with a silver insert. The second model has a simpler design.
The rear of both pickups is almost identical: a sporty cargo bed, vertical taillights, and a sturdy bumper. The Tiger’s length is 5,322 mm, while the other model is slightly longer at 5,335 mm. The payload capacity of both is 495 kg.
According to Chinese ministry data, both models will receive a 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine with 165 hp (Tiger) and 158 hp (base version). A 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 215 hp will also be available. Details about the interior and exact prices have not yet been disclosed. The official launch is scheduled for May 21.
These new models could become an interesting alternative for the market, especially given their resemblance to well-known Ford models. However, the lack of details about features and comfort leaves questions about their competitiveness in the premium segment.
