Non-Standard Hybrid: Hyundai Tiburon Converted into a Three-Wheeled Motorcycle
The former affordable sports coupe Hyundai Tiburon disappeared from the market, giving way to the Veloster, and then ceased to exist as a model altogether. However, enthusiasts continue to experiment with this car. One of the most unusual examples is a custom project from Canada that combines the front part of a Tiburon with the rear part of a motorcycle.
At first glance, it seems to be just a bright yellow 2001 Hyundai Tiburon, but upon closer inspection, radical changes become apparent. The body is almost completely removed, and instead, the rear part of a Honda Goldwing on a tubular frame is installed. The result is a hybrid that is difficult to classify definitively.
Project Details
The owner claims the car was bought new in 2001 but was little used before the conversion. The project took hundreds of hours of work and thousands of dollars, with welding performed by professionals. The 2.0L engine and automatic transmission remained original and, according to the owner, are in excellent condition. The headlights, turn signals, radio, and other systems also work.
Since the vehicle is registered as an off-road ATV, it cannot be used on public roads. However, it could become an interesting exhibit for private collections. This unique hybrid is now offered for sale for $4500 or for trade for another vehicle in Quebec.
The original Tiburon engine produced 140 hp, which might be sufficient for a three-wheeled vehicle, but the reduced wheelbase and single rear wheel will likely affect handling. This project is another example of how automotive enthusiasts find non-standard ways to extend the life of ordinary cars by turning them into something completely different.
