Last month, a heavily camouflaged C8 prototype was spotted on the roads. New Engine and Expectations

The basis for the future novelty is expected to be a new version of the famous small-block V8 engine from General Motors, which, according to rumors, will receive the LS6 designation. It is reported that this engine will be presented in two displacements: 5.7 and 6.6 liters. A leaked audio recording has already appeared online, giving an idea of its sound—a powerful growl, pops on overrun, and an overall captivating exhaust note.

In addition to the new powertrain, all Grand Sport models will likely receive the wide body, as seen on the top-tier E-Ray, Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X versions, rather than the more restrained body kit of the base Stingray.

Market Positioning

The Corvette Grand Sport for the 2027 model year is expected to become the highest-volume model in the Corvette lineup. This means it could outsell even the base Stingray and likely lure buyers away from current E-Ray and Z06 models.

A critically important factor will be the price. The E-Ray model starts at $108,600, and the Z06 at $120,300. The base Stingray costs around $70,000, giving Chevrolet ample room to maneuver. Most experts assume the Grand Sport will occupy a niche between them, in the approximate range of $85,000 to $100,000. Such a price position could make it the perfect choice for those who want more performance and a more aggressive design without stepping up to the full-fledged top versions.

The potential return of the Grand Sport could significantly reshuffle the deck in the sports car segment. By offering a wide body and a new engine at a price below the hybrid E-Ray and the naturally aspirated Z06, Chevrolet is targeting a wide range of enthusiasts.
