Latest Update and Future of the Model
At the beginning of the month, Dacia updated the Sandero and Sandero Stepway, giving them a fresh look for the second time in three years. As it turned out, this will be the last update of the current model, as a completely new generation is expected to launch in 2028 – and it might look exactly like this.
Visualization Specifications
These visualizations depict the next Sandero in the high Stepway version, but the standard hatchback will also look very similar. Compared to the recent restyling, this new model looks a bit more modern, although we’re not sure it actually looks better.
Dacia’s Budget Stars Just Got A Serious Glow-Up
Considering that Dacia hasn’t yet started publicly testing the next Sandero, these visualizations from Kolesa are purely speculative, and it’s quite possible that the new Stepway won’t look like this. Compared to the current model, the front end of this one stands out thanks to new headlights with thin daytime running lights. There’s also a new black lower radiator grille and small vertical air curtains.
Design and Features
Overall, we like the front end. However, the side design looks somewhat strange. If the current model has soft curves and widened arches at the front and rear, the Sandero depicted here has straighter lines, reminding us of the Kia Tasman, and we all know how controversial its design turned out to be.
Expected Powertrains
Regardless of how the 2028 Sandero and Sandero Stepway will look, they are expected to offer similar powertrain options to the current model. This means base models will be sold with a 1.0-liter turbocharged TCe engine producing 110 hp, while a more powerful 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 120 hp is also expected.
Additionally, recent reports suggest that the current Sandero Stepway might be sold with a hybrid powertrain, and the next generation model will likely also be. This powertrain is expected to include a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine paired with an electric motor and a 1.4 kWh battery. Overall, it should produce 155 hp.
Despite the fact that the visualizations are currently only speculation, they reflect the trend towards a more technological and ecological approach in the automotive industry. The introduction of hybrid options could significantly expand Dacia’s audience while maintaining affordability, which has always been the brand’s key advantage. The ability to combine traditional engines with modern technologies makes future models even more attractive to the market.
