New Dacia Duster pickup: compact but with limitations
Dacia has introduced in Romania a new version of the popular Duster SUV in the form of a four-seater pickup with two rows of seats. This model, developed in collaboration with the Romanian company Romturingia, features compact dimensions and limited load capacity.
Design and specifications
The pickup retains the basic Duster design but has a shortened rear section with plastic body trim and special cargo fastenings. The cargo compartment length is 1050 mm, width is 1000 mm, and the maximum load is 430 kg. The rear row of seats is equipped with a central armrest for passenger comfort.
Technical features
The model is offered in Expression, Extreme, and Journey trim levels with hybrid powertrains: mild-hybrid 130 with all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive Hybrid 140. The dimensions remain the same as the regular Duster, making the pickup compact but limiting its practicality for commercial use.
Market offerings
In the UK, Dacia offers the Duster Cargo version – a van with a wooden floor, mesh partition, and the ability to transport cargo with a volume of over 1000 liters. This model is available in the Expression trim with mild-hybrid 130 4×4 or hybrid 155 engines.
Prices and availability
The Duster Pick-Up is already available in Romania from €25,983 excluding VAT, while the standard Duster starts from €17,200. In the UK, the Duster Cargo can be ordered from £22,995 for the mild-hybrid 130 4×4 version. It is currently unknown if the pickup will appear on other markets.
Despite its compact dimensions, the new model may find its audience among those looking for a versatile vehicle for the city and light hauling. However, the limited cargo space and the absence of powerful non-hybrid engines could be serious drawbacks for potential buyers. Dacia continues to experiment with different body types, trying to combine affordability and functionality.
