Dacia Striker returns an affordable station wagon to the market for less than 25 thousand euros

Official premiere of the Dacia Striker

Dacia has officially unveiled the all-new Striker model, which is the station wagon sibling of the Bigster crossover. This car, presented as part of Renault Group’s strategic plan, aims to prove that the station wagon class has not yet said its last word. The newcomer is positioned as a tall, family-friendly, and practical station wagon for the compact segment, retaining the brand’s signature focus on affordability.

Key features of the new model

Design and dimensions

The exterior of the Dacia Striker features angular LED headlights and taillights, the design of which resembles Cadillac’s solutions. The car has increased ground clearance, large-diameter wheels, and plastic cladding made from recycled materials, giving it a more rugged look. Other details include diagonal “gills” on the front doors and sculpted surfaces on the hood, bumpers, and sides.

The length of the Striker is 4.62 meters, making it the largest model in the Dacia lineup and 50 mm longer than the Bigster.

Interior and practicality

Official interior photos are not yet available, but the Striker is expected to retain a five-seat layout, leaving the seven-seat option for the smaller Jogger. The dashboard will most likely be shared with the Duster and Bigster, including a 10.1-inch multimedia system screen and the convenient YouClip accessory mounting system.

Dacia states that the Striker is focused on “real customer needs and everyday convenience.”

This means a spacious interior made of durable materials and a large luggage compartment. Its family-friendly character and off-road touches also make it an obvious candidate for camping accessories already offered for the Jogger, Duster, and Bigster.

Powertrains

The Striker is built on the same CMF-B platform as the Bigster and other Dacia models. The company has confirmed the availability of hybrid and LPG powertrains. A Hybrid 4×4 version is also expected, repeating the approach used in the brand’s crossovers.

In the Duster, the most powerful and all-wheel-drive configuration combines a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system and an additional electric motor on the rear axle, working in tandem with a 48-volt battery and a six-speed automated manual transmission. The total power is 152 hp, and this same scheme will most likely be used in the Striker.

Price, competitors, and production

Despite its size, the new Dacia crossover-station wagon is expected to start from 25,000 euros, which is significantly lower than most compact SUVs in Europe. The official sales launch is scheduled for June 2026. Production will likely be set up at the Renault plant in Turkey, as the plant in Mioveni (Romania) will remain focused on producing the Duster and Bigster.

For now, the Dacia Striker remains the only crossover-station wagon in its segment after the discontinuation of models such as the Ford Focus Active, Toyota Corolla Trek, and VW Golf Alltrack. The closest competitor remains the Skoda Octavia Combi, although a similar Scout version is almost no longer offered. Indirect competitors include compact SUVs such as the Citroen C5 Aircross and Kia Sportage.

The arrival of the Dacia Striker could be an important step in reviving interest in practical station wagons, especially in the European market dominated by crossovers. The model combines the space and functionality of a classic “wagon” with modern trends of increased ground clearance and an off-road look, while remaining in a very competitive price category. The success of this model could indicate whether there is solid demand for an alternative to tall SUVs among buyers who primarily value practicality and reasonable costs.
