Grandfather of the Cullinan: the all-wheel-drive Rolls-Royce nobody knew about

Rolls-Royce Cullinan – the first SUV of the British brand, although attempts to create a practical all-wheel-drive model were made earlier. Meet the Rolls-Royce Val D’Isere wagon.

The unusual Rolls-Royce wagon was created at the Robert Jankel studio and produced on individual orders. It is based on the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit sedan.

The car is equipped with a 6.75-liter V8 engine with a power output of about 300 hp and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The wagon’s all-wheel drive is engageable at speeds up to 50 km/h and is very clever. The front wheels have their own motors, which are driven by a special hydraulic pump connected to the transmission by a belt.

Of course, the interior features leather and wood, and all the luxury attributes are preserved.

Interestingly, this particular car has a pink exterior as well as a pink interior.

By the way, there was also a related model, the Bentley Val D’Isere, which was even purchased by the Sultan of Brunei.
