Rare RUF CTR 2 Sport is being auctioned
The German company RUF is known for its unique cars based on the Porsche 911. One of the rarest models became the CTR 2 Sport, which has now appeared at auction. This is the first model of the brand officially sold in the USA, and it is based on the 993 generation 911.
The Sport version featured even higher performance. Its 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine developed 580 hp, and torque was transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, this particular example has all-wheel drive.
History of the specific example
This CTR 2 Sport belonged to the Beddor family, whose sons participated in the Pikes Peak races in similar cars. In 2007, the car was sold to a collector from New Jersey, who sent it to the RUF factory for modernization. There, they installed a new leather interior, seats, steering wheel, and adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers.
The auction house Broad Arrow is preparing to sell this unique car during Monterey Car Week. With a mileage of 26,800 km and after recent service, it is expected to fetch between $3 and $3.5 million. For exotic car enthusiasts, this is a real opportunity to become the owner of a piece of automotive history.
The price for such rare models as the CTR 2 Sport only grows over the years, making them not only an object of luxury but also a profitable investment asset. This is especially true for cars with a history connected to famous personalities or events.
