Demon Without a Shirt at 170 Kilometers Per Hour is a Pure Invocation of Problems

Dodge Demon 170 in Convertible Version

The Dodge SRT Demon 170 is one of the most powerful American cars with a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 1025 horsepower. But Droptop Customs found a way to make it even more unique — they converted it into a convertible.

The modification involves replacing the hard roof with a folding fabric one. Although the folded top remains open, the solution looks quite neat for a custom conversion. To avoid body deformation, the craftsmen added aluminum reinforcements.

Auction Specimen

On July 12th, one of these rare convertibles in TorRed color with only 22 miles on the odometer will be sold at a Mecum auction. This is car #2891 from the limited series of 3300 units.

Interestingly, last year a similar Demon 170 Convertible with 30 miles on it went for $242,000. However, this year, standard versions with minimal mileage are selling for $130,000–150,000, so it’s hard to predict whether the conversion is worth such a price premium.

The popularity of such exclusive modifications among collectors remains high, despite the technical compromises. At the same time, the market shows that original, unmodified versions often retain better investment appeal in the long term.
