Where Jeremy Clarkson Laughs at the Queen’s Old Off-Roader

The Uniqueness of the Royal Range Rover

Externally, this 2007 Range Rover Vogue looks like an ordinary British off-roader, but in fact, it is considered one of the most important examples of its kind, as it once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. In the world of Range Rover, it is hard to imagine a more valuable car than this one.

Comparison with Other Models

Many enthusiasts consider the L322 generation Range Rover to be the best version of this model. For example, Jeremy Clarkson, who owns one such car, often demonstrates it in his show “Clarkson’s Farm”. Interestingly, his L322 was registered on the same day as the royal one, and the chassis numbers differ by only 10 units.

Car Features

Land Rover supplied several Range Rover models for the late Queen, but this particular specimen is likely the only one finished in Tonga Green and equipped with a 3.6-liter V8 turbo diesel engine, unlike the available petrol versions. Additionally, the car is equipped with a special compartment in the rear for the Queen’s favorite corgis.

Auction and Sales History

The Iconic Auctioneers auction house will put the car up for sale on November 8, expecting its price to be between £50,000 and £60,000. Queen Elizabeth II was known to have been seen driving this off-roader on multiple occasions, including during the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The Mystery of Origin

According to the auction house, this Land Rover left the royal collection about 10 years ago and ended up with a private owner. It was later purchased by the current owner, who initially had no idea about the car’s royal past. Only after checking the registration number and chassis number did he realize that this car once belonged to the Queen.

Restoration and Condition

After discovering the car’s history, its exterior paint was restored and the interior was updated. The original telephone, headphones, and entertainment system for rear passengers were replaced with parts from Land Rover Special Vehicles. The car’s current mileage is just over 126,000 miles.

An Opportunity for Collectors

For those who dream of owning a unique piece of British automotive and royal history, the upcoming auction provides a rare opportunity to do so. This Range Rover not only symbolizes an era but also demonstrates how ordinary-looking things can have an incredible history. Its origin and the attention to detail during restoration make it a true find for car and history enthusiasts.
