The New Luxury SUV YangWang U8L Has Entered the Market
The premium SUV YangWang U8L from the Chinese manufacturer BYD is already on sale. Although its price in China is quite high, compared to similar models on Western markets it looks more advantageous. The main difference of the U8L is its significantly extended wheelbase and body.
The price starts from 1.3 million yuan (approximately 181 thousand dollars). A deposit of 20 thousand yuan is required for booking. The car is positioned as an alternative to the Bentley Bentayga or Rolls-Royce Cullinan for those who prefer Chinese brands.
Technology and Comfort
The YangWang U8L is equipped with the advanced DiPilot 600 autonomous driving system, which includes three lidars and a Navigate On Autopilot function. Ceramic brakes, a Disus-P hydraulic suspension, and the ability to overcome water obstacles also come as standard.
The interior is focused on passenger comfort: the front and rear seats have heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The driver gets a 23.6-inch digital instrument panel, and the front passenger gets their own large display.
Power and Prospects
The SUV is equipped with a hybrid powertrain: a 2.0-liter turbo engine, four electric motors, and a 49.05 kWh battery. The total power is 1180 hp, which surpasses the figures of the original Bugatti Veyron.
However, YangWang sales in the first half of the year fell by 500% compared to last year, which may indicate the brand’s difficulties in maintaining demand. Whether there will be buyers for the extended version remains an open question for now.
Despite its technological advantages, the YangWang U8L faces stiff competition from established European brands. Its market success will largely depend on whether it can convince buyers of its premium status and reliability.
