Owners of elite cars are required to bear greater responsibility and pay larger fines for administrative violations on the road. The corresponding bill No. 7026 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada recently.
It is proposed that a car will be considered elite if its cost is more than 375 minimum wages. Today it is 2,437,500 hryvnias or about $85,000.
If the bill is adopted, fines for administrative offenses of such cars will increase 10 times, and for criminal offenses – 2 times.
The fines concern:
- violation of driving rules
- exceeding the permitted speed
- running a red light
- violation of seat belt rules
- failure to comply with stop requirements
- leaving the scene of an accident
- driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other intoxication
Currently, the draft law is being considered in the committee. If adopted, it will come into force on January 1, 2023.
