During the first 5 months of the current year in Ukraine, almost 20 thousand new crossovers and SUVs were sold out of 23.5 thousand new passenger cars. This accounts for 82.5% of the market share, although just a year ago their share was 74%. So in just a year, SUVs added almost 9% to the market share. Interestingly, in some regions, the share of crossovers is even higher.
According to the results of sales of new passenger cars for the first 5 months of 2023, the highest number of SUVs were sold in Kyiv – 40% of all crossover and SUV sales. Of course, as a whole, Kyiv is the city with the highest sales of new passenger cars.
As reported by AUTO-Consulting, the second place is Dnipropetrovsk region, where 9.3% of all SUVs are sold. The third is Odessa region (7% of the SUV market), the fourth – Lviv region (6.8%), and the fifth – Kyiv region (4.2%).
Interestingly, in Kyiv, the smallest share of SUVs among all sold new passenger cars is recorded simultaneously – 77.7%. It is worth noting that in general, the share of crossovers and SUVs in the car market is 84.4%. Also, lower than average figures are recorded in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Volyn, and Chernihiv regions of Ukraine.
On the other hand, there are regions with the highest share of crossovers and SUV sales. For example, this year’s leader is Chernivtsi region (92.5% of SUVs out of all sold cars). Almost 90% are also recorded in Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. In addition, the leaders are Dnipropetrovsk region (86.5%), Kirovohrad region (86.6%), Kherson region (86.7%), and so on.
In general, in 19 regions of Ukraine, the share of SUVs is 84-90% of the car market.
