Race in Vacaville: Mustang Crashes into Nissan
In Vacaville, California, surveillance cameras captured a dangerous race between a Chevrolet Corvette C8 and a Ford Mustang S550. While navigating a right turn, the Mustang lost control and crashed into a Nissan that was waiting at the traffic light. After the collision, the car also ricocheted into a Chevrolet sedan before coming to a stop in the middle of the road.
The incident occurred back in May but has only now received widespread coverage. Police reported that both drivers were approaching the intersection at high speed after exiting the I-80 freeway. The Mustang driver, who is only 22 years old, was arrested at the scene. The Corvette driver initially fled but was found a week later, and his car was impounded for 30 days.
Obviously, the Mustang driver entered the turn at too high a speed, and the tires simply couldn’t provide sufficient traction with the road.
The recording shows that the Corvette handled the turn significantly better, although it did cross into the turn lane. Experts suggest that a bump in the road immediately before the turn may have worsened the Mustang’s handling.
Such incidents are a reminder of the danger of illegal street racing. Local residents are increasingly complaining about the noise and safety threats caused by such cases. Police have promised to increase patrols on dangerous road sections, especially at night.
