Accident During Illegal Street Racing in California
Two drivers in California were involved in an accident during illegal street racing. Police report that they have lost their cars for a month and are also facing serious charges. Interestingly, the accident occurred at the very same location where a fatal incident happened over ten years ago.
According to police, the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro was racing a Ford Mustang on Stoddard Road. While turning onto Pirrone Road, the Camaro driver lost control, causing the car to veer off into a fruit orchard. Both drivers were detained, and their cars were impounded for 30 days. Police were particularly interested in a device for concealing the license plate on the Camaro, which was seized as evidence.
“The driver of the Camaro failed to negotiate the turn onto Pirrone Road, resulting in an accident in the orchard,” reported representatives of the highway patrol.
A cross is erected at the accident site in memory of Pedro Melo, who died there in 2014. It serves as a reminder of the danger of such racing. Although the drivers now face fines and the temporary loss of their vehicles, they may be grateful that it ended without serious injuries.
This case is another example of how illegal street racing can lead to serious consequences. Police emphasize the importance of遵守 traffic rules, especially in places where accidents with fatal outcomes have occurred before. Drivers who participate in such races risk not only their own cars but also the lives of other road users.
