Two Recall Attempts Did Not Resolve the Polestar Issue

Problems with the Rearview Camera in Polestar 2

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received complaints from Polestar 2 owners that software updates did not fix the issue with the rearview camera. Over the past 12 months, Polestar has already recalled this model twice due to this malfunction, but the fix proved ineffective.

In the first instance, the company offered a software update that was supposed to free up memory for displaying the camera image. However, this did not help, so in April, Polestar released another update intended to ensure a stable connection between the camera and the infotainment system. Nevertheless, owners continue to report problems even after installing the latest update.

Problems Extend to Other Models

The breakdown has affected not only the Polestar 2. In May, the company reported that the new Polestar 3 model also has issues with the rearview camera. Although the exact reasons were not specified, Polestar promises to fix the malfunction via an over-the-air update.

This situation highlights the complexity of resolving technical issues in modern electric vehicles, especially when they are related to software. Even after several repair attempts, companies do not always achieve the desired result, which causes concern among owners and regulators.
