Modified Toyota GR Corolla Sold Above Original Price
Although the Toyota GR Corolla is an excellent car to drive, it rarely proves to be a profitable investment asset. However, a 2023 model with 7 thousand miles was recently sold at auction for a price $5 thousand above its original value. Why did this happen?
The secret is that the first owner invested thousands of dollars into tuning the car. Although it was initially the base Core version, it received a $1,800 Performance Package, which includes differentials and improved brakes. But that was just the beginning.
Modification Details
The car was equipped with 18-inch Volk Racing TE37 wheels, upgraded Falken tires, adjustable Cusco coilovers, and more powerful Endless brake pads. Under the hood, an EcuTek tuned module, a carbon fiber intake, an intercooler, a blow-off valve, and an A’PEXi exhaust system were installed.
The interior received heated BRIDE carbon seats, which, according to the seller, retained the factory functions.
Although the exact amount invested in tuning is not specified, the winning bid of $45 thousand (with an initial price of $41 thousand) suggests that the buyer considered it a profitable decision. It’s hard to imagine that anyone could replicate these modifications for a similar amount of money, starting from a standard version.
This case shows how properly executed tuning can increase a car’s value, even if it is not a collector’s item. It is especially impressive that a used car with a base trim attracted so many buyers. Perhaps this indicates a growing demand for unique, individually modified models among car enthusiasts.
