by The Mazda MX-5 has long been popular as an affordable sports car, but that hasn’t stopped some enthusiasts from desiring even more exclusivity. Belgian Mazda dealer St-Michel, in collaboration with Gisele Racing, has introduced another special version of the roadster, complementing it with stylish exterior and interior details and an improved suspension.
The MX-5 Toji model is a continuation of the series of limited versions from this dealer. Unlike previous variants, it is equipped not with the 2.0-liter engine, which is no longer offered in Europe, but with the base 1.5-liter unit producing 129 hp (96 kW). Despite the modest power, the car has received Bilstein shock absorbers for improved handling.
The Toji’s special feature lies in its design solutions, inspired by the classic Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S coupe from 1967. The body is painted in a rich shade of Artisan Red Premium, similar to the color of Mazda’s 35th-anniversary version.
The elegant exterior is complemented by new 17-inch Borbet alloy wheels with a two-tone BBS-style finish.

The interior has received more noticeable changes. The seats and dashboard are upholstered in Exclusive Heritage Cosmo fabric with a classic “houndstooth” pattern, adding a retro character. The steering wheel and gear lever feature wooden inserts, and the floor mats are adorned with embroidery.
Mazda St-Michel and Gisele Racing will produce only 12 units of the MX-5 Toji, which are planned to be delivered to European customers by the end of this year.
The price of the special version is €43,333 ($49,100), which is significantly higher than the base ND MX-5 with a similar configuration, which starts at €31,790 ($36,000) in Belgium. Are the additional €11,543 ($13,100) worth it for the unique design and limited series?
