Suzuki Dealers Unexpectedly Obliged to Cancel and Refund All Orders for Jimny XL

Suzuki Halts Sales of Jimny XL in Australia

Suzuki has stopped sales of the five-door version of the Jimny XL off-roader in Australia due to an unspecified issue that is not safety-related. Dealers have been asked to cancel orders and refund customer deposits. This is the second such case this year – earlier, sales of the three-door version were discontinued in the country due to the lack of an autonomous emergency braking system.

A spokesperson for Suzuki Australia, Michael Pachota, stated:

“Given the uncertainty regarding the timeline for resolving the issue, we are recommending that dealers cancel orders for the Jimny XL and refund customers. This is the most transparent and customer-oriented option at this time.”

Situation for Customers

Buyers who have already placed orders can choose to remain in the queue to receive the vehicle if they wish. Suzuki is collecting contact details of such customers for further updates. So far, the Japanese manufacturer has not provided any updates on the reasons for the problem or the timeline for its resolution.

The updated version of the three-door Jimny with the mandatory autonomous emergency braking system is expected to arrive on the Australian market by early 2026. Until now, the five-door version remained the only option for local buyers, but now it is also temporarily unavailable.

This situation could impact the brand’s reputation in the region, especially after similar problems earlier this year. At the same time, open communication with customers and prompt refunds are helping Suzuki maintain consumer trust until the technical issues are resolved.
