Fiat Finally Unveils the 2026 500e, But the Price Has Increased by $5,200
Automakers have been introducing 2027 models for months, but the 2026 Fiat 500e was somehow delayed. Because of this, we reached out to the brand last week to find out if the hatchback was taking a vacation, like the Jeep Wagoneer S.
Fiat told us that the 2026 model would be announced shortly and finally presented a car that practically no one needs. Given the low demand — less than one car per day — the updates, unsurprisingly, turned out to be minimal.

When the 2026 500e goes on sale this summer, buyers will see empty showrooms and a new color, Miami Sunset. That’s not the only change: the new Pop trim level gets a body-color dashboard instead of the pearlescent one found on the Icona version.
Another significant change is access to the Tesla Supercharger network. However, this requires a NACS adapter costing $230.
Otherwise, it’s the typical overpriced and unremarkable 500e. The 2026 lineup has been adjusted: the 500e Giorgio Armani Edition has been discontinued.
Furthermore, the base Pop trim starts at $35,700, which is a huge jump compared to the previous price of $30,500 for the INSPI(RED) version. This level appears to have been discontinued, though Fiat mentioned the (RED) Edition, which is likely an options package.
The Icona trim returns for 2026 but now starts at $37,700. That’s $5,200 more than the 2025 model and seems absurd, considering dealers are struggling to get rid of existing cars even with discounts of $15,000.
Technical Specifications and Competitors
Although no sensible person would buy the 500e, we should note that the car is equipped with a 42 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor producing 117 hp (87 kW / 119 PS) and 162 lb-ft (219 Nm) of torque. This allows the model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and have a range of approximately 149 miles (240 km).
Of course, there are much better options, including the Chevrolet Bolt for $27,600 with a range of 262 miles (422 km). Buyers should also consider the Nissan Leaf for $29,990, which can travel 303 miles (488 km) between charges.
2026 Fiat 500e Prices
Trim | Price (MSRP)
Pop | $35,700
Icona | $37,700
Prices do not include an undisclosed destination fee.
Given the situation, a $5,200 price increase with minimal updates looks like a risky move. The electric vehicle market is becoming increasingly competitive, and the Fiat 500e, with its modest range and high price, loses out to more practical and affordable models. Even with discounts, dealers cannot sell off previous versions, indicating low consumer interest. Perhaps the brand should reconsider its strategy to avoid losing its position in the compact electric vehicle segment entirely.
