Strange Clicking Noise in Honda Prologue Leads to Lawsuit

Noise Issues in Honda Prologue Electric Vehicle Lead to Lawsuit

A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the Honda Prologue electric crossover due to persistent noise problems from the drive shafts. Owners complain of clicking and popping sounds that do not disappear even after official repairs at dealerships.

The main claims raised in court include:

Details of Owner Complaints

The lawsuit, filed in Pennsylvania, names two Prologue owners who encountered unusual noises from the front axle. One of them is Ashley Custer, who leased a 2024 Prologue in May 2025. She soon began hearing sounds, prompting her to contact the dealer when the odometer showed only 4,039 miles.

After she reported squeaking during turns, the Honda dealer replaced the axles. However, this did not solve the problem. Custer returned to the dealership in November, where she was informed that a repair was currently unavailable. A related repair order noted that she “experiences a suspension noise that is familiar to us and that we have seen on other Prologues,” adding that it is “a known issue that Honda is working on.”

She took her Prologue to the dealer again last month but was once again told that a repair was unavailable. Similarly, the second plaintiff, Jorge Santiago, owns a 2024 Prologue and began noticing popping and clicking sounds soon after receiving the car. Despite the car also being taken to the dealership, it was not repaired.

Is There a Solution to the Problem?

In December, Honda sent a technical instruction to dealerships, asking them to check for noise in faulty Prologue models, inspect for damage, and perform necessary repairs. However, the lawsuit claims that the fix is futile because Honda is simply using the same defective front axles and components. Therefore, the noise continues even after numerous visits to dealerships.

The lawsuit alleges that Honda knew about the “abnormal and alarming noises” when it first began selling the all-electric Prologue.

This Prologue situation raises questions about quality control in early batches of new electric vehicles, especially when the problems are systemic. For many electric car buyers, reliability is a key factor when switching from traditional internal combustion engines, so such incidents can undermine trust not only in a specific model but also in the brand’s electrification as a whole. A quick and transparent response from the manufacturer to such defects often proves to be no less important than the technical fix, as it affects reputation. The further development of this lawsuit may become indicative of how automakers resolve complex technical issues in their new electric products.
