The Only Monorail Train in Ukraine Was Saved from Disposal (photo) en

In 2020, it was planned to be cut into metal, but fortunately, the unique prototype of the Ukrainian monorail Kapvey was still saved. This is evidenced by the fact that the monorail train was put on display in Kyiv at the retro festival OldCarLand.

Apparently, concerned people (or a concerned person) saved/bought out the one-of-a-kind Ukrainian monorail…

Recall, as TopGir already wrote, the idea of launching a monorail in Kyiv has been actively discussed since the 1960s. It was revisited in 2004, that year they decided to launch new transport in Hydropark with the prospect of extending the line to the left bank. According to the project, these small cars were supposed to move silently and reach speeds of up to 120 km/h. The Kapvey monorail was to be tested in Hostomel, but the project did not go beyond a 300-meter test track due to lack of funds.

P.S. By the way, the test track itself has already been “junked” for scrap metal.
