The unique prototype of the Ukrainian monorail Capway may soon become history. It is being prepared to be scrapped for metal, and the 300-meter segment of the test track has already been dismantled, reports Khmarochos.
The idea of launching a monorail in Kyiv was actively discussed since the 1960s. It was revisited in 2004 when it was decided to introduce the new transport in Hydropark with the prospect of extending the line to the left bank.
According to the project, these small carriages were supposed to move silently and reach up to 120 km/h.
The Capway monorail was decided to be tested in Hostomel, but it never went beyond the 300-meter test track due to a lack of funding. Hence, the carriages have been rusting for 16 years.
