A unique electric Hummer H1, once owned by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is looking for a new owner. This monstrous off-roader, converted into an electric vehicle by the Austrian company Kreisel Electric, is a one-of-a-kind prototype. This is reported by Classic Driver.
Schwarzenegger once convinced AM General to build a civilian version of the Humvee simply because he wanted to have one. When the actor decided to switch to electric power, he chose the largest and most brutal off-roader. The Austrian engineering firm Kreisel Electric took on the task of converting the 3.3-ton Hummer H1 into a fully electric vehicle, completing it in just two months.
Electrified Hummer Received 490 Horsepower
Instead of a loud diesel engine, a 100 kWh battery pack has been installed, powering two electric motors – one for each axle. The total power of the powertrain is approximately 360 kW or 490 horsepower. The electric Hummer’s range reaches about 300 km, and its top speed approaches 120 km/h.
Hummer H1 Retained Off-Road Capabilities After Electrification
Importantly, this is not an experimental project with reduced functionality. The electric H1 has retained its impressive off-road characteristics, unchanged seating position, and imposing presence. It simply no longer announces its arrival from kilometers away. The electric version may even have advantages on difficult terrain due to instant torque.
During the presentation, Schwarzenegger jokingly noted that after electrifying his Mercedes G-Class and Hummer, electric airplanes could be next. This electric H1 remains the only prototype in the world, making it a true piece of automotive history linked to one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors.
