New Details About the Upcoming Jaguar GT
Despite certain delays in Jaguar’s electric revival, new details about their four-door Gran Turismo are beginning to emerge. The car is expected to debut this year, and the company promises it will be “fearlessly unique and emotionally captivating.”
The magazine Evo recently published a series of technical specifications obtained during prototype testing. According to reports, the model’s length will be about 204.7 inches (5200 mm), placing it between the short and long wheelbase versions of the Jaguar XJ.
Powerful Electric Powertrain
The luxury sedan will be built on an 850-volt Jaguar Electrical Architecture and will receive a three-motor powertrain. Two motors are located on the rear axle, providing torque vectoring.
The total system power will exceed 1000 hp (746 kW) with torque around 1000 lb-ft (1354 Nm).
Such power should provide extremely fast acceleration: 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) is expected to take approximately three seconds.
Battery and Range
The car will receive a 120 kWh battery pack, which is predicted to provide a range of 435 miles (700 km) according to the WLTP standard. Using a 350 kW fast charger will allow replenishing 200 miles (322 km) of range in less than 15 minutes.
Weight and Suspension
The powerful battery pack, however, significantly impacts the car’s mass. The estimated weight is about 5952 lbs (2700 kg), which is approximately 2039 lbs (925 kg) more than the old Jaguar XJ LWB 3.0 Supercharged. For comparison, the weight of the new model will be similar to that of the BMW i7 xDrive60.
The publication also reports that the car will have a dual-chamber air suspension with adaptive Bilstein dampers, as well as three drive modes: Comfort, Dynamic, and Rain/Snow/Ice. Most of the hardware work is already complete, but software tuning is only 75-80% finished, which likely explains the postponement of the debut from the end of last year.
The announced specifications set very high expectations for this model, especially among brand enthusiasts awaiting a worthy successor to the legendary sedans. The success of this car could be crucial for Jaguar in their transition to an exclusively electric lineup. Technical parameters such as range and power meet modern premium standards, but the final impression will depend on those very “emotional” qualities promised by the manufacturer.
