Mazda Electric Crossover Successfully Conquers China and Soon Heads to Europe

Mazda EZ-60: Success in China and Plans for Europe

The new Mazda EZ-60 electric crossover has already gathered over 33,000 pre-orders in China even before the official sales start. The car, developed jointly with Changan, will offer both a fully electric version and a model with an extended range. The European market will receive this model under the name CX-6e.

The EZ-60 presentation took place at the auto show in Shanghai in April. According to Chinese media, by July 11th, the number of pre-orders reached 33,000. Sales are expected to start in September.

Technical Features

The crossover, with a length of 4,850 mm, will be available in two variants: with an electric powertrain and with an extended range. Mazda has not yet disclosed detailed technical specifications but promises high autonomy figures thanks to improved aerodynamics.

The unique design of the EZ-60 retains Mazda’s signature style: aggressive split headlights, a massive radiator grille, and modern technologies in the cabin, including a 26.5-inch display, an augmented reality head-up display, and a 23-speaker audio system.

European Market

For European buyers, the model will be produced under the name CX-6e. The price in Europe is expected to be significantly higher compared to the Chinese market due to import duties and differences in pricing policy.

Simultaneously, Mazda is developing its own platform for electric vehicles, the launch of which is planned for 2027. The new model will be manufactured in Japan on the same line as conventional ICE cars.

The collaboration with Changan has allowed Mazda to quickly expand its electric vehicle lineup, which is especially relevant for the Chinese market. However, for European buyers, such models may be less accessible due to additional import costs. At the same time, the company continues to invest in its own developments, which could change the situation in the future.
