New body kit for Renault 5 and Alpine A290 in Group B style
British tuning company Milltek presented a new wide body kit for the electric vehicles Renault 5 E-Tech and Alpine A290 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The design of the kit is inspired by the legendary 1985 rally car R5 Maxi Turbo from Group B.
Interestingly, the stylistic updates are compatible with both the Renault and Alpine versions. However, additional rally-style fog lights are available exclusively for the Alpine due to the different front bumper design.

Key elements of the kit
The main part is a pair of wide front and rear fenders with integrated ventilation openings and a special cutout for the charging port. They are combined with aerodynamic overlays on the front bumper and corresponding additions for the rear doors that mimic side air intakes. Milltek also installed aluminum sill plates and a larger roof spoiler.
Technical features and price
The package does not affect the car’s performance or chassis, although in the photos the car sits on non-standard alloy wheels that emphasize the rally style. It is worth noting that the more powerful Renault 5 E-Tech produces 148 hp (110 kW), while the Alpine A290 reaches 215 hp (160 kW).
According to the company, the stylistic updates are designed to be fully reversible, as the installation requires no cutting, and the additional ABS parts use “local removable bonding.”

Milltek showed a prototype of the kit at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and promised that the production version will appear soon. Deliveries of the first limited series will begin this fall.
As for the price, the basic kit starts from £2,000 ($2,700) before taxes. Additionally, those who do not want the full package will be able to purchase each component separately.
Additional context
This approach to tuning electric vehicles indicates a growing demand for personalization even in the segment of compact city cars. Although Milltek does not make changes to the powertrain, the visual inspiration from rally Group B adds emotion to modern electric cars. It is worth noting that the modularity and possibility of returning to the standard appearance make this kit attractive to those who value flexibility. Since the Renault 5 E-Tech and Alpine A290 share a common platform, the kit’s versatility allows covering a wider audience, although the power difference between the two models remains significant.
