Ford’s Electric Bronco Appears in China with a Surprise Sliding Roof

Start of Orders for the Bronco Basecamp in China

Ford has started accepting orders for the new Bronco Basecamp, which has become the third model in the Bronco lineup developed specifically for the Chinese market. This event took place after the car’s debut at the Chengdu Auto Show. For early buyers, the company offers a free additional package – a panoramic glass roof that opens with the push of a button.

Features of the Camping Package

This roof is not a tent, but it provides additional space above the second row of seats, rising by 360 mm. The front seats can be folded, and the headrests lower automatically. The second row of seats also folds down, allowing for the installation of an inflatable mattress with the Bronco logo for comfortable rest.

Additional Features for Active Recreation

The car is equipped with a so-called “mountain kitchen” on the rear doors, which includes a folding table, a magnetic strip for utensils, a drink holder, and a built-in bottle opener. Ford positions the Basecamp as the first all-wheel-drive camping SUV, making it ideal for nature lovers.

Special Terms for Buyers

Early orders can receive additional equipment worth 12,000 yuan by paying only 1,000 yuan as a deposit. This makes the offer even more attractive for those who value comfort during travel.

Technical Specifications of Powertrains

The Bronco Basecamp is offered in two variants: all-electric and with an extended range. The electric model has all-wheel drive with two motors producing 445 hp, and its 105.4 kWh battery provides a range of up to 650 km. The extended-range variant is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, two electric motors, and a 43.7 kWh battery, which together produce 416 hp. The electric-only range is 220 km, and with the engine, it reaches up to 1220 km.

Dimensions and Comparison with Other Models

The Bronco Basecamp’s wheelbase is 2950 mm, which is identical to the full-size Bronco in the USA, but significantly larger than the Bronco Sport. The total length of the car is 5025 mm, making it larger than both mentioned variants.

This model demonstrates how Ford adapts its SUVs to market needs, combining electrification with features for active recreation. The growing popularity of camping and eco-friendly transport makes the Bronco Basecamp a relevant choice for modern urban residents seeking outdoor adventures without compromising on comfort.
