Electric C-Class from Mercedes becomes a new nightmare for BMW i3

Official premiere of the first electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its first fully electric C-Class sedan. The new model, designated C 400 4MATIC Electric, is designed to make its gasoline predecessors technologically obsolete. The manufacturer claims this is the sportiest version of the C-Class in the model’s entire history.

Technologies for handling and comfort

To achieve high dynamic performance, the car is equipped with Airmatic air suspension and rear-wheel steering. This combination is intended to provide excellent handling even over long distances.

Exterior and interior of the new generation

The exterior of the electric C-Class looks significantly more refined compared to conventional models. The car features a coupe-like roofline, a Gran Turismo-inspired rear-end style, and a radiator grille with 1050 individual LEDs.

The interior is transformed into a modern cockpit with elements of luxury. An available option is the massive 39.1-inch diagonal Hyperscreen display. The car also offers an AI voice assistant, seats with a massage function, and a 4D surround sound system.

Technical specifications and availability

The stated WLTP range is up to 473 miles (762 kilometers). The car is built on an 800-volt architecture, allowing for fast battery charging: replenishing 202 miles (325 km) of range takes only 10 minutes.

Sales will start first in the USA, which is an unusual step for the brand, and the first cars will arrive at dealers in the first half of 2027.

The emergence of the electric C-Class is a logical step in the strategy of electrifying the entire Mercedes-Benz model range. This model is set to become a key player in the premium electric sedan market, combining the brand’s traditional comfort and quality with innovative technologies and an eco-friendly powertrain. The success of this new product could significantly influence the course of transformation of the entire automotive market in the coming years, as competition between EVs and ICE vehicles is intensifying most in the business-class segment.
