Technical Features
Presentation and Design
Mercedes-Benz not only introduced a new competitor to the second-generation BMW iX by announcing the new GLC with EQ technology in Germany but is also preparing to launch a fully electric version of the C-Class, which will compete with the new BMW i3. An intriguing teaser image of this new model was recently released.
This shadowy image was shown during the presentation of the new GLC and demonstrates that, like the SUV, it will have a massive radiator grille. This grille, which can be illuminated using hundreds of small LEDs, will give the new electric C-Class a striking appearance on the road but will undoubtedly make many brand enthusiasts ponder. It has four illuminated horizontal bars, one more than the three present on the GLC EQ.
Furthermore, this teaser shows that the electric C-Class will include the latest Mercedes-Benz headlights with star-shaped daytime running lights. The overall proportions of the car are expected to be similar to the conventional C-Class with an internal combustion engine, with which this model will be sold in parallel.
Platform and Specifications
The sedan will be based on the MB.EA platform, which is also used in the GLC EQ. This means we can expect the same 94 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and 800-volt architecture, enabling charging speeds of up to 330 kW. Perhaps most impressively, the German brand promises a 497-mile (800 km) range for the electric C-Class, which will likely be marketed as the C-Class with EQ technology.
Powertrain Details and Interior
Further powertrain details remain undefined, but the C-Class EQ should be available in several different configurations with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive.
Little is known about the interior of the new model. It may hit the market with the same seamless 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen as the GLC EQ, or it could be equipped with the slightly simpler Superscreen of the new CLA, which includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment display, and a 14-inch passenger screen.

The growing competition in the electric sedan segment among German manufacturers is becoming increasingly noticeable, and Mercedes seems to be betting on technological innovation and striking design to stand out. The claimed range and charging speed could become key advantages for buyers seeking convenience and efficiency. Parallel sales with traditional models also allow the brand to meet different market needs while gradually transitioning to electromobility.
