Main Model Updates
Market Competition
Despite sales difficulties, Maserati continues to improve its most popular crossover Grecale. Updates for the 2026 model year focus on the fully electric Folgore version, which can now travel greater distance between charges.
Technical Improvements
The Grecale Folgore electric crossover debuted in 2023 with two electric motors producing 550 hp and a 105 kWh battery that provided 500 km of range according to WLTP standards. The electric powertrain characteristics remain unchanged, but Maserati implemented the “AWD-Disconnect” system that increases range to 580 km.
When all-wheel drive is not needed, the system transfers power to the rear wheels, significantly reducing energy consumption
System Operation Principle
The front axle disconnection process occurs automatically in just 500 milliseconds. The system monitors various parameters using sensors and algorithms: power, brake temperature, road incline, speed, acceleration, driving mode, and external temperature.
Dynamic Characteristics
The Folgore version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, only surpassed by the gasoline-powered Trofeo version with V6 engine. However, the electric crossover has a limited top speed of 220 km/h.
Features for Electric Vehicles
The electric version retains remote climate control functions, automatic battery preparation, and route planning for electric vehicles. The latter function now includes dynamic range mapping that visually displays the maximum distance that can be covered with the current energy reserve.
Personalization
In addition to increased range, Maserati expanded personalization capabilities for the entire Grecale 2026 lineup. The palette includes 11 standard colors and 32 shades from the Fuoriserie program. Eight interior colors, eight seat options, four brake caliper finish options, and six alloy wheel designs are available.
Pricing Policy
The manufacturer has not announced prices for the Grecale 2026 lineup, but no significant changes are expected compared to previous years.
The implementation of the all-wheel drive disconnection system demonstrates how automakers are finding innovative ways to improve electric vehicle efficiency without changing main components. This approach is particularly important for premium brands that strive to combine high dynamic performance with everyday practicality. The expansion of personalization options also aligns with modern trends of individualization in the automotive industry.
