Painting This Bentley Costs More Than a New Mercedes E-Class

Bentley Introduces Flying Spur with Ombré Gradient Paint

Bentley has expanded its palette of exclusive options by offering clients an Ombré gradient paint for the Flying Spur model. This technology, which initially debuted on the Continental GT Speed during Monterey Car Week, is now also available for this popular model.

Process Details and Unique Design

The car presented at the Southampton International Boat Show combines two shades of blue: Topaz Blue at the front and Windsor Blue at the rear. The transition between the colors is smooth and symmetrical, creating a striking visual effect on the doors, sills, and roof.

As Bentley reports, applying the Ombré paint takes about 60 hours and requires the work of two highly qualified technicians. The process involves the sequential application of two colors followed by tinting to achieve a perfect transition.

Cost and Exclusivity

This option costs $68,000 and is the most exclusive in the Mulliner lineup. For comparison, the cost of the paint exceeds the price of many premium cars, such as the BMW 5-Series or Mercedes E-Class.

The limitations on color schemes are related to the technological complexity of combining paints. Bentley emphasizes that the colors must be carefully selected to avoid the appearance of a third shade, for example, green when combining yellow and blue.

Available Options and Future

Three color schemes are currently available: Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue, Tungsten to Onyx, and Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame. The company plans to expand the palette in the future, keeping this option unique for a limited circle of clients.

This initiative by Bentley demonstrates how automakers continue to experiment with personalization, offering solutions that combine art and technology. Similar offerings not only emphasize the brand’s status but also reflect the growing demand for uniqueness among luxury car buyers.
