A 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS Targa, used during the filming of the pilot episode and the first series of “Magnum, P.I.”, has been put up for auction. The car is confirmed as one of the early examples involved in the production of the series. This is reported by Barrett-Jackson.
According to documentation, the car participated in the filming of the episode “Don’t Eat the Snow in Hawaii” and early scenes of the first season of the series, which aired on CBS from 1980 to 1988. The provenance is confirmed by letters from Ferrari historian Marcel Massini and the F-Register.
Ferrari 308 Magnum PI: History of the Example

This Ferrari 308 GTS Targa was adapted for actor Tom Selleck, who played the lead role. For this purpose, modifications were made to the interior to provide more legroom, taking his height into account.
The body is finished in the classic Rosso Corsa color, and the interior is trimmed in Crema leather. The car features a removable Targa top panel and pop-up headlights.
Equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, and the signature metal gear selector with an exposed mechanism.
