The incident occurred near the Nürburgring, involving a Ferrari F40 and a 1997 Volvo 850 T-5. While we usually see accidents caused by the carelessness of drivers of cheap cars, this time the culprit was the Ferrari driver.
He did not leave enough space on the side while passing the Volvo, which was waiting to enter a gas station. The impact was not strong, but it damaged the Volvo’s rear bumper and broke the exhaust pipe mount, causing it to fall off.
Surprisingly, the Ferrari was almost undamaged – only a scratch on the front fender is visible. However, restoring this car will cost much more than repairing the Volvo, which, due to its age, might be written off. We hope the owner can buy it back and restore it.
Although the Ferrari driver is at fault for the accident, which could have easily been avoided, the Volvo owner also did not contribute to safety. The gas station near the track is always crowded, and the video shows that the Volvo was positioned at a right angle to the road, as if trying to cut into the line at the last moment.
