New Flagship SUV from Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has introduced its new flagship SUV, the Victoris, in India, expanding its lineup of off-road vehicles. This model has slightly larger dimensions than the Grand Vitara, features a sharper design, and a more luxurious interior. The car is offered with various powertrain options, including a mild hybrid, a full hybrid, and CNG.
Suzuki’s Strategy and Victoris Features
Suzuki has specialized in compact city cars and small SUVs for decades, with each model having its own character. The new Victoris continues this strategy: it shares a platform with the Grand Vitara but stands out with its unique design and improved trim levels.
The Victoris is 4,360 mm long, 1,795 mm wide, and 1,655 mm high. Compared to the Grand Vitara, it is 15 mm taller and 10 mm wider, while both models share the same 2,600 mm wheelbase.
Updated Design and Interior
Externally, the Victoris features a completely new body with larger LED headlights, a narrow radiator grille, and stylish bumpers. The side profile is accentuated by squared-off wheel arches and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the rear is adorned with modern LED taillights.
The interior is dominated by a 10.1-inch multimedia screen positioned high on the center console. For enhanced comfort, it features textured upholstery materials, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a Harman audio system with Dolby Atmos, a 360-degree camera, Alexa integration, and a power tailgate. Furthermore, the Victoris is the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle to feature Level 2 driver-assistance systems.
Trim Levels and Powertrains
Externally, the Victoris is available in mono- and two-tone color schemes, while the interior is offered in black and cream tones. An optional Raffine package includes dark chrome exterior elements, wood trim, special floor mats, and illuminated scuff plates.
Technically, the model is built on the Heartect platform, which is also used in the Grand Vitara. Hybrid and bi-fuel (petrol/CNG) powertrains are available. The most powerful is the full hybrid version with a 1.5-liter engine and an electric motor, producing a combined 114 hp and 141 Nm of torque. This variant comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and the Allgrip Select all-wheel-drive system.
Pricing Policy and Model’s Future
Maruti Suzuki has not yet announced prices for the Victoris in India but has opened pre-orders with a deposit of 11,000 rupees. The model is expected to be priced higher than the Grand Vitara, which currently ranges from 13.35 to 23.86 lakh rupees. The question of exporting the Victoris outside of India remains open for now, but in the domestic market, it will become the brand’s most technologically advanced SUV.
The launch of the Victoris demonstrates the growing competition in the Indian SUV market, where buyers increasingly value not only reliability but also modern technology and comfort. This model could become a key player for Maruti Suzuki in the battle for market share with other popular manufacturers.
