Ford Mustang Crashed Before Leaving the Dealership

A young guy just drove out of an auction dealer in Texas.

This Mustang appears to be an EcoBoost model, not a GT with a V8 engine.

We can’t say how damaged the front of this muscle car is.

There’s a fine line between horsepower and poor decision-making, and some people really love to cross it. Here are some tips for those driving a Mustang: these cars are rear-wheel drive, and due to the high power, the rear wheels will quickly lose traction and start spinning if the traction control system is turned off.

While this should be obvious to anyone who has ever driven a high-performance car, it seems there’s a certain category of Mustang drivers who didn’t get the memo, like this young guy.

This short video, recently posted on the @slavic_GNC page, shows a guy driving out of what could either be a dealership or, according to some commentators, the Manheim auction in Dallas. It’s unknown if he is the owner of this Ford, but in any case, he will have to pay a big bill for insurance or repairs.

After pulling out, the driver enters the road and hits the Mustang’s gas pedal. During this, he films himself with his iPhone in one hand, and with the left hand holds the steering wheel. Immediately he pulls off and quickly counter-steers to avoid spinning.

In fact, as this initial drift is braked, the rear end of the Ford swings in the opposite direction, and he can’t save it, crashing into the barrier on the side of the road.

The behavior here impresses everyone the wrong way. Not only did he turn off the traction control system on a high-performance rear-wheel-drive car, but he also chose to drive with one hand, record everything with the phone accidentally catching his face in the rear-view mirror, and then, of course, upload it online for the whole world to see.

Unfortunately, Ford Mustang drivers get a lot of criticism. And, honestly, most of them drive like responsible adults who understand how physics works. But scenes like this don’t help. There are many bad apples, and each case like this only reinforces the stereotype, pulling the rest along.
