Ford recalls F-150 Lightning due to suspension issues
Ford has announced a recall of its F-150 Lightning electric pickups due to a potential issue with the front suspension. According to the report, in 29,501 vehicles manufactured in 2024–2025, the nut of the upper suspension control arm joint may not have been tightened sufficiently. Dealerships will inspect its condition and, if necessary, replace the entire control arm.
Suspension joints play a crucial role in vehicle handling, and their loosening can lead to serious consequences. Ford notes that drivers may notice the problem in advance—through unusual vibrations, knocking, or rattling when driving over bumps.
According to the manufacturer, the first case was detected on March 6, 2025, when a customer reported a front wheel failure after driving 634 miles. The service center confirmed that the nut was missing and the control arm had detached from the steering knuckle.
Recurring issue
This is not the first recall of the F-150 Lightning for a similar reason. In December 2024, the company implemented additional quality control measures at the factory, but in March 2025, a new case of a completely missing nut was recorded.
Owners of affected vehicles (20,528 units from 2024 and 8,973 from 2025) are offered a free inspection at dealerships. Regardless of the result, the nut will be replaced, and if a defect is found, a new steering knuckle will be installed.
Although Ford is responding promptly to incidents, the recurrence of the issue raises questions about the effectiveness of the measures taken. It is particularly striking that the first case occurred just three days after the vehicle’s release, which may indicate systemic flaws in the production process. The company will not only have to address the current risks but also review quality control methods at all stages of assembly.
