Ford warns: the deadline for the most lucrative offers on electric vehicles in the USA is coming to an end

Changes in tax incentives for electric vehicles in the USA

The US government will soon cancel the federal tax incentives for electric vehicles that have been in effect for many years. After September 30th, buyers will lose the opportunity to receive a discount of $7500. Ford expects the demand for electric vehicles to surge before this deadline, as people rush to take advantage of the benefit.

In a letter to dealers, Ford stated:

“Demand is expected to increase for eligible models.”

The manufacturer recommends that dealers manage to submit sales reports by October 1st for customers who want to receive the incentive immediately upon purchase.

Specifics for the Mustang Mach-E

Not all Ford models are eligible for the full tax incentive. For example, the Mustang Mach-E, which is produced in Mexico, does not meet the requirements for a purchase, but is eligible for a $7500 discount if leased. Furthermore, this model has a special “Zero, Zero, Zero” promotion – zero interest, zero down payment, and zero payments for 90 days.

For used electric vehicles, incentives also exist – up to $4000 – which may disappear along with the main ones. This could significantly impact the affordability of eco-friendly transportation, especially against the backdrop of rising overall cost of living.

After the incentives are canceled, the cost of electric vehicles may increase significantly, which will change the market dynamics. Manufacturers will have to find new ways to attract buyers, perhaps through their own loyalty programs or by reducing base prices. At the same time, this could stimulate the development of the secondary market, where cars will be sold without a markup for “green” technologies.
