Ford Ranger Raptor receives the most American upgrade in history

Modified Ford Ranger Raptor with Mustang engine

Australian company Killa Conversions has performed an unusual modification of the Ford Ranger Raptor pickup, replacing the standard 3.0-liter biturbo V6 with a powerful 5.0-liter V8 from the Ford Mustang. The engine also received a Roush supercharger, increasing its power to 750 hp and torque to 907 N·m. To handle the additional power, a 10-speed automatic transmission was installed.

“This is a serious leap in power that makes the original engine seem like a secondary option,” the statement reads.

Why the Ranger and not the F-150 Raptor R?

Although the Ford F-150 Raptor R is equipped with a similar 720-horsepower engine, it is not available for sale in Australia. Therefore, for local enthusiasts, the modified Ranger could be an interesting alternative. Killa Conversions claims that all standard features and safety systems remain functional after the powertrain replacement.

Project cost

The price of the original Ranger Raptor in Australia is around AU$90,000, while the modifications cost an additional AU$89,000. Together, this amounts to nearly AU$190,000—a considerable sum for a midsize pickup. However, for this price, buyers get a unique vehicle with the character of a true Mustang.

Despite the significant cost, such a pickup can offer driving dynamics comparable to sports cars in the same category. The weight of the modified version has not been disclosed, but drivers are unlikely to notice a substantial difference in handling.
