The new Ford Ranger Super Duty, introduced in Australia, is positioned as the most robust and versatile version of the mid-size pickup. It offers payload and towing capabilities unusual for vehicles in this class. However, its price is close to the flagship Raptor version, which could be a point of consideration for potential buyers.

Prices and Trims

The base version with a single cab starts from 82,990 Australian dollars (approximately 53,900 USD). The two-door cab will cost from 86,490 AUD, and the full four-door cab from 89,990 AUD. It’s worth noting that these prices do not include the cost of the platform body, which will have to be purchased separately. The manufacturer offers several options: galvanized steel, painted to match the body color, or matte black.

Technical Features

The Ranger Super Duty can tow up to 4.5 tons – a figure previously characteristic only of full-size pickups. The payload capacity varies from 1.8 to 2 tons depending on the cabin type. The diesel engine received an updated cooling system that is 25% more efficient than the standard one, as well as requirements for using AdBlue.

The ground clearance is increased to 299 mm, the track is widened to 1710 mm, and the wading depth is 850 mm.

This vehicle will be perfect for those who need not only high payload capacity but also true off-road capability in challenging conditions. However, such capabilities require appropriate investments – the cost of a full set can significantly exceed the base price.

Although the Ranger Super Duty did not get the powerful gasoline engine from the Raptor, its updated diesel unit with improved characteristics makes this model attractive for commercial use. The payload figures, which surpass some full-size pickups, are particularly impressive. Combined with significantly improved off-road capability, this makes the newcomer a true all-rounder among trucks.
