Ford Ranger Receives More Powerful Hybrid Version with Improved Environmental Friendliness

Ford Expands MS-RT Lineup in Europe

Ford has introduced two new electrified models for its European MS-RT series. The updated Ranger MS-RT is now available with a more powerful hybrid engine, and the Tourneo Custom MS-RT has fully switched to an electric version. Both models retain the aggressive design and utility characteristic of the MS-RT series.

Technical Updates for the Ranger MS-RT

The Ranger MS-RT PHEV is equipped with a turbocharged 2.3-liter petrol engine and an electric motor, which together produce 277 hp and 697 Nm of torque. This is 40 hp and 97 Nm more than the diesel version. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an e4WD all-wheel drive system.

Thanks to an 11.8 kWh battery, the Ranger MS-RT PHEV can travel up to 40 km on electricity alone. The model retains the ability to tow up to 3500 kg and carry a payload of up to 1 ton.

Design and Interior

Compared to the standard Ranger, the MS-RT version is lowered by 40 mm and has a sportier suspension. Externally, the model features wider fenders, a honeycomb radiator grille, redesigned bumpers, a diffuser, a spoiler, and 21-inch alloy wheels. A new paint shade has also appeared — Turini Purple.

The interior uses Eco leather and Alcantara materials with blue stitching, a sports steering wheel, bucket seats, and an illuminated MS-RT logo. Technologies include a 12-inch multimedia screen, dual-zone climate control, and a driver assistance system.

Electric Tourneo Custom MS-RT

The Tourneo Custom MS-RT is now available in fully electric, hybrid, and diesel versions. The electric version has a power output of 282 hp thanks to a single electric motor.

The eight-seat version of the Transit Custom received an updated body kit, including sports bumpers, a splitter, side skirts, a diffuser, and a large roof spoiler inspired by the Ford Supervan. Inside, the front seats feature enhanced lateral support and integrated headrests, and all three rows of seats are upholstered in Eco leather and Alcantara with blue stitching.

The Tourneo Custom MS-RT is fitted with special 19-inch wheels, but unlike the Ranger, the model retains the standard suspension.

Availability and Production

The new MS-RT models will be available for order in Europe and the UK later this year, with the first deliveries expected in 2026. Prices will be announced closer to the start of sales.

All versions of the Ranger and Tourneo Custom MS-RT undergo final assembly at the Ford Dagenham Estate plant in the UK. The public premiere of the models will take place at the IAA Mobility motor show in Munich from September 8 to 14.

These updates show that Ford continues to invest in electrification without sacrificing dynamics and style, making the MS-RT series attractive to fans of powerful and environmentally friendly cars. The increased power and ability to drive on electricity make these models competitive in the European market, where demand for mixed and electric vehicles continues to grow.
