Ford is preparing a unique Mustang Mach-E for the Pikes Peak race
Ford has unveiled the Super Mustang Mach-E prototype, which will participate in the prestigious Pikes Peak hill climb on June 22. The wheel of this unique model will be handled by the famous racer Romain Dumas, who has previously competed in the SuperTruck races.
This specially designed Mustang Mach-E is radically different from the production version. It features a coupe-type body, aggressive aerodynamic bodywork, including a massive front splitter, diffuser, and a huge rear wing. Thanks to these modifications, the car generates over 6,125 pounds (2,778 kg) of downforce.
“The aerodynamic modifications make this Mustang Mach-E a true track monster”
Technical features and historical context
Although the exact technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, the prototype is expected to feature a powerful electric motor setup. It may be based on developments from previous projects, such as the three-motor SuperTruck with a total output of over 1,600 hp.
Ford’s participation in Pikes Peak has a rich history—as far back as 1916, the Model T reached the summit in 28 minutes. Modern prototypes from the company have shown significantly better results, such as the SuperTruck with a time of 8:53.553 in 2023. The new Mustang Mach-E could set even more impressive records.
This project demonstrates how manufacturers use prestigious competitions to test extreme technologies that may later find applications in production models. Particularly interesting is the adaptation of the Mustang Mach-E’s crossover body into a high-speed coupe format, opening new possibilities for electric vehicles in motorsports.
