Ford has created a three-row SUV based on the Ranger that Americans keep asking about, but the answer remains unchanged

Limited Edition Ford Everest Wildtrak Returns to Australia

The Australian market once again gains access to a special version of the Ford Everest SUV in the Wildtrak trim. This time, the manufacturer will release a limited batch of one thousand vehicles, which will go on sale in the third quarter of 2026.

Design and Equipment Updates

The new batch will differ from previous ones with minor but noticeable updates. Externally, the main accent will be the new Ignite Orange paint, which will replace the former Luxe Yellow. The exterior will also be adorned with glossy black elements and 20-inch alloy wheels with orange accents. For those planning active off-road trips, a free option is offered—a set of 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tires.

The interior will receive leather seats with orange stitching and Wildtrak embroidery. Standard equipment will include premium features from the top Platinum trim: matrix LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, interior ambient lighting, and third-row seats that fold electrically.

Technical Specifications and Pricing

The heart of the vehicle remains a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine producing 247 horsepower. Torque is 600 Nm. The unit is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The smaller 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel is no longer offered on the Australian market, so the V6 is the only option for the entire Everest lineup.

The starting price for the new model is 79,990 Australian dollars, which is identical to the cost of the Tremor version, which has an enhanced suspension but lacks some of the Wildtrak’s premium features.

Why is the Everest Not Sold in North America?

The vehicle, based on the Ranger pickup, is not available in the US and Canadian markets. Typically, this is explained by a number of factors: market positioning, tariff restrictions, and emissions requirements. In North America, the role of the family three-row SUV is filled by the Ford Explorer, while the niche of an off-road vehicle for active recreation is occupied by the Bronco. In such a situation, the company may not see the need to invest in a model to compete with the Toyota 4Runner for this region.

Currently, the most accessible version of the Everest in Australia is the Wildtrak, while the top of the line remains the Platinum trim starting at 83,490 Australian dollars. The return of the limited edition Wildtrak indicates sustained demand for more sporty and well-equipped versions of this SUV among Australian buyers seeking a compromise between family comfort and off-road capability.
