Ford is aware of your desire to quickly resell this Mustang, but deliberately makes you wait

Ford Mustang GTD: Production and Owner Restrictions

The popularity of the most powerful version of the Mustang in history has forced Ford to set strict rules for buyers. The company is gradually ramping up production of the 2025 model and emphasizes that owners will not be able to quickly resell the car for profit.

After a slow start at the beginning of the year, 31 units were manufactured in June, which is 66% of the total number of GTDs produced (47 cars). Ford has clearly stated: new owners are not allowed to sell the car for at least two years.

Production Features

The production of these cars takes place not at the main Ford plants, but at the facilities of the Canadian company Multimatic, which previously produced the GT supercar. In January, only two cars were assembled, in February – none, in March – three, in April – one, and in May – ten. The sharp jump in June was a surprise.

Experience with the GT model showed that some owners, such as the famous actor John Cena, tried to bypass similar restrictions. This time, the company will likely be better prepared for such situations. The Mustang GTD is the most exclusive and most powerful version in the model’s history, with a base price starting at $325,000. However, special versions, such as the Carbon Series or Spirit of America, cost significantly more – over $400,000 excluding additional equipment.
